Technology works

Earlier today, in a room filled with fintech executives, one statement stuck with me: “technology works.” It was part of the closing speech delivered by Mr. Atuah (Major, as I fondly call him), the Founder of Lifeforms Ltd.

While seemingly obvious, his message served as a stark reminder of how technology is profoundly transforming industries, in this case — finance. This was at the launch of xtraCash and xtraBalance, two products leveraging MTN’s reach to deliver short-term loans by Forms Capital Ltd to a potential 17 million subscribers, all powered by XtraMFS.

Truly remarkable how “simple tech” like USSD remains a powerful tool for reaching the masses in Africa.
